Web Development

WebDev

As a web developer, I build custom web applications, not just websites.

Where a web designer is primarily focused on how a site looks, a web developer is focused on how a site works... consolidating ideas, designs and requirements into practical and functional solutions that work for site owners and their target audience.

Technologies I regularly use include;

HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, ASP.NET, Java, WordPress, MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Server, Apache, Litespeed, IIS, cPanel and Plesk across both Linux and Windows Web Servers.
Web Development Process

The Process

PLAN: Identify requirements and limitations, explore options, set goals and make a plan.

DESIGN: Discuss and choose a 'look and feel' including colours, some behaviours and layout.

DEVELOP: I build, add content and functionality. You review. The develop, refine and review process continues until you're 100% happy.

TEST: Add testers. The develop, refine and test process continues until any issues are resolved.

DELIVER: The project goes live!

MAINTAIN: Backup, update, add to and fix as required, including associated services.

Hosting

Hosting

Hosting is available for websites, email, databases and more. I'm also happy to work with your preferred hosting service provider as required.

Simple, low-traffic websites can be hosted on a shared server from around $10 per month.

Virtual Private Servers provide more functionality and flexibility for complex and/or high-traffic projects and start from around $100 per month.

Solutions I'm familiar with include;

Linux and Windows hosting, Cloud Computing services provided by Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure.
